Helping Families Navigate Special Education

About Me

Special Education can feel overwhelming, confusing, and isolating. Many families are unsure where to begin or how to make sense of a system that often feels hidden and difficult to navigate. You do not have to face this journey alone.

I support families by offering clear explanations, thoughtful guidance, and steady advocacy so you can make informed decisions with confidence and peace of mind. My goal is to help you truly understand your child’s needs and feel supported every step of the way.

I work to ensure your child has been thoroughly and appropriately assessed, that all areas of need are recognized, and that supports and services are carefully matched to help your child grow. I also advocate for meaningful goals that encourage progress while honoring your child’s unique strengths and challenges.

I collaborate closely with IEP teams, schools, and districts to ensure your child’s needs are fully addressed and that their educational plan is thoughtful, individualized, and complete. Every child deserves to be seen, understood, and supported.

I bring a background in child development from California State University, Chico, and completed my graduate work at the University of Southern California. I also completed Special Education Advocacy Training (SEAT) through the Council of Parent Advocates and Attorneys (COPAA), an intensive year-long program focused on effective, ethical advocacy for students with disabilities.

The Special Education journey does not need to be traveled alone. My clients are able to reach me easily to ask questions, talk through concerns, and plan next steps. Together, we take things one step at a time.

As an advocate, I walk alongside you. As a parent, your voice, insight, and lived experience are essential to the IEP process. I am here to help ensure your voice is heard, respected, and valued—always with your child’s best interests at heart.

What is a Special Education Advocate?

As a Special Education Advocate, I support parents and guardians by:

  • Understanding and staying current on Special Education laws and regulations so families do not have to navigate them alone

  • Helping parents understand their rights in clear, practical, and approachable ways

  • Communicating with schools and districts on behalf of families to reduce stress and ensure clarity

  • Preparing for, planning, and attending IEP meetings so parents feel informed and supported

  • Assisting families in understanding assessment results and what they truly mean for their child

  • Ensuring IEP goals are appropriate, meaningful, and aligned with each child’s unique needs

  • Helping hold IEP teams accountable for delivering the services, supports, and goals outlined in the IEP

  • Making referrals to other trusted, highly qualified professionals when additional support is needed

  • Creating thoughtful, individualized solutions that reflect both the child’s needs and the family’s priorities
